Dear students,

On October 15th I will be holding a seminar covering basics on research and theses. It is aimed at providing you with the necessary background info in order to successfully start out on your thesis process if you haven’t already – or help you with your proposal. If you register (and are not late!) you will get a reserved seat.

This seminar will cover:

1. How to select an advisor

2. How to select a thesis topic

3. What a proposal should include

4. What a literature review is, and what ‘methodology’ is

5. How to schedule your time so you don’t suddenly run out due to planning incorrectly

6. How to use the thesis template to ensure you follow the strict formatting regulations of our department

As it will be held in the Harvard Room (4th floor), seating is limited to about 70+ individuals. Seating will be on a first-come-first-serve basis (in our program we currently have about 100 seniors and 60 juniors, and several super seniors).

If you wish to register, please fill in the form with the requested information(click the sentence). If you are not there by 6pm, your seat will be given up to anyone who did not register but did arrive on time.

If coming, please bring your laptop, and have MS Office 2007 installed and the attached template downloaded (if you have a Mac, using the template will be much harder. You may want to install parallels – we will have someone with us who is a Format Checker and works off of his Mac to help with any questions you may have).
For Taipei students, please contact your batch representative or Donna. We can arrange a separate seminar for you up in Taipei.

Best regards,

Jojo

PS. Juniors – don’t forget your research and EndNote seminar will be held Thursday October 8th at 6pm.
