Did you know that NCKU maintains exchange program agreements with some top universities around the world? Did you know you can go on an exchange as an international student and receive financial support?

Yep, it’s true. NCKU actually tries to encourage students to do that. For example, if you’re into Asia, you can exchange from NCKU to National University of Singapore in Singapore, Osaka University in Japan, or Seoul National University in Seoul. If you’re more into western countries, you can try San Diego State University in US, Leiden University at the Netherlands, or Griffith University at Australia. The full list can be found here (in Chinese, but names are in English).

The person to talk to about this in Office of International Affairs is the helpful Carrie Liang (chingyi@mail.ncku.edu.tw, +886-6-2757575#50966, Exchange Coordinator).

(Carrie adds – this is the official website)

A few things to take into consideration :

  • Courses – Masters and Undergraduates. Research – PhD.
  • Taiwan Scholarship should be suspended for the duration of the exchange.
  • China credit is still not recognized in Taiwan. Ma Ying Jiu seems to be working on it.
  • Limited financial support can be provided (flight ticket, per credit).
  • You can actually exchange to a non-agreement university, totally up to you, but you have to do the process yourself (research it online).
  • Competition with the Taiwanese students over US universities is intense, they all want to go there. For all the other universities available there actually aren’t enough candidates and so your chances are VERY good. Ask Carrie about that.

Deadline should be coming up soon, so you better hurry up and get started.
